Frequently Asked Questions
When will Glowing Hive have honey back in stock?
Our honey is a seasonal product and we sell out quickly every year. This is partly because we only harvest the surplus honey our bees produce. We never over harvest our hives, which puts unnecessary stress on them and increases the risk of a hive starving through the winter. We make sure our bees are very well fed, meaning we harvest less, but that’s okay with us!
We harvest our honey near the end of summer and will have more honey in stock then. Check back, or sign up for our newsletter, to keep up to date with our next honey harvest!
My honey has crystalized, is it still safe to consume?
Yes! Crystallization occurs when the natural sugars within the honey can no longer remain dissolved, separating and binding them together to form small crystals. Crystalized honey tends to be grainy in texture and thicker than de-crystallized honey. This is a completely natural process and the crystalized honey is still safe to consume.
If you want to return your honey back into a liquid form, simply place your glass jar of honey in a small saucepan with a bit of water in it. Turn the saucepan on low heat and allow the honey to warm up slowly while stirring occasionally. Be careful not to overheat the honey as this can destroy its beneficial vitamin and nutrient content.
Fun fact! The components of raw honey can never actually “go bad”, making it one of the only foods that never truly expire.
The vanilla beans in my Vanilla Infused Honey keep floating to the top, is this normal?
Yes, the real vanilla beans will naturally float to the top of the jar. Simply give your vanilla bean infused honey a stir before you grab a tasty spoonful.
Candle Care
Why should I allow the full surface of my candle to melt when I light it for the first time?
When you let the entire surface of the candle melt during the first burn, you prevent tunneling and encourage an even burn for the duration of your candle’s life. We recommend that you burn your candle for 1-2 hours during the first burn, so sit back, get cozy and enjoy!
Why should I trim my candle wick?
Trimming your candle wick will control the size of the flame and will help prolong the life of your candle. We strongly recommend trimming your candle wick to around ¼” before every burn.
If you let the flame of your candle get too large, it will burn your candle much more quickly and can result in burning the edges of your candle glass.
